Petitions

We advocate a simultaneous bottom-up (grassroots driven) and a top-down (citizen legislative influence) approach to changing California's public higher education.

Citizens, students, and parents need to make their grievances known to local university officials and state-wide administrators. Specific practical suggestions for improvements should be made; we should press universities and legislators for action on the following:

  • Freezing/reduction of tuition and fees;

  • Full disclosure of data on student loan/debt statistics and corporate arrangements with universities;

  • Expand distance learning and other innovative methods to produce less expensive, quality higher education;

  • To stimulate competition, revise or eliminate accreditation regulations for liberal arts colleges;

  • Improvement of curricula to prepare students as citizens for the challenges of modern society
